I was honored to participate in a fabulous evening of film, art, and fundraising with actor Vincent Piazza and Garry Pastore 2014 award winning film producer. Garry hosted a screening of his award winning film “DESTRESSED” to benefit POAC’s Autism Shield Program. The screening was held at the beautiful, historic Strand Theatre for the Arts in Lakewood, NJ, the event was a huge success.
“DESTRESSED” is a docu-drama-edy that documents Pastore’s search for solace from post-traumatic stress following the 9/11 terror attacks. Increased stress left Pastore with major stress-related health and psychological issues, so he set out to find others who help him put his own problems into perspective. “DESTRESSED” is a moving film about the courage of people and the beauty of humanity.
Pastore’s “DESTRESSED” awards:
2014 Garden State Film Festival
- Pick of the Flicks Audience Choice Award
- Homegrown Award Best Documentary
- Official Selection Garden State Film Festival 2014
4th Golden Door International Film Festival
Jersey City, NJ – September 18-24, 2014
- Winner: Best Documentary
- Nominee: Best Editing
- Nominee: Best Cinematography
The incredible film is truly inspiring and certainly was the highlight of the evening.
The movie screening event raised money for POAC, which provides recreational and support services to children with autism and their families. Specifically, a portion of the proceeds will benefited POAC’s Autism Shield Program implemented to train law enforcement and first responders for instances when an autistic child goes missing. It currently has a 100 percent success rate.
Along with auctioning several pieces of my art, I presented a Pop oil painting to to actor Vincent Piazza, star of the HBO’S hit historic drama series Boardwalk Empire. The Pop black and white oil painting portays Piazza in his lead role of Lucky Luciano.
I give great thanks to Gary Pastore for including my talent during this important evening of fundraising and enlightenment through the powerful message that “DESTRESSED” delivers.
