MY GUMBAS
You know, it is one thing to see Deniro and Pesce in the same scene together, just like Gandolfini and Imperioli. Combine them together, add some tomatoes and garlic, and you have “MY GUMBAS.” Out of all the Scorcese films with Bobby D and the crazy man Pesce, CASINO is my favorite. The color in the film was just spectacular, especially in the bright pastels suits that Ace Rothstein was sporting in almost every one of his scenes. David Chase would have never imagined writing the Soprano’s without Martin Scorcese and Francis Ford Coppola’s brilliance that has preceded him for decades. As we know, all great art imitates life while also imiatating other great art and vianother form of art. I tried to almost create a family feud between the four characters in the painting. Could you hear Ace saying to Nicki, “who the fuck are these guys? We came along way before them.” But big Tony could care less and with Christopher at his side, it would be one hell of a tag team match!

Cento Italian products are often found in my cucina. One of my favorite rustic dishes is to saute broccoli rabe in olive oil and garlic, add red pepper , sea salt and toss in the CENTO CANNELINI BEANS. Let saute for 20 minutes, crack your wine, break out the seeded bread and watch MY GUMBAS!
