DOWN GOES ALI
I am from Philadelphia, and would never protest to being a greater fan of Joe Frazier than “The Champ Ali “ But for one occasion I was convinced by my client to portray the only time in his career than Ali hit the canvas!. The famous 1st round knock down in their 1st fight is a great historical image in American Boxing History. The photo is tremendously well documented and was a catylst towards my research if choosing the angle that truly inspired my creativity. The Sports Illustrated cover text is created with hand cut colored paper.I could just hear the famous voice of Howard Cosell, “Down Goes Ali”, “Down Goes Ali”.
Fight of the Century was the promotional nickname given to the first boxing match between champion Joe Frazier (26-0, 23 KOs) and challenger Muhammad Ali(31-0, 25 KOs), held on March 8, 1971, at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.[1
